RJD2 sucks

... party at sudikoff
10/19/08
Last night as I waited in my trippee's room for her to change out of her toga so that we could move along to the next party, I saw a blitz from Brendan promisingly entitled "RJD2 sucks." I couldn't help myself, I clicked on it- and there went the rest of my plans for the night. I knocked on the window at Sudikoff around midnight and I don't think I left until nearly 3.
Brendan and I teamed up with a level 9 runepriest somewhat ironically named Snowkeg and started in on a battle against destruction for a piece of contested territory in dwarf land. We killed a hell of a lot of orcs but the forces of destruction were way ahead of us from the start at 65 kills to our 19 and ended up winning. It was a good battle and if those players from destruction hadn't been around I could easily have seen us playing to the required 100 kills.
Interestingly, I'm not finding the game itself as compelling as I had expected. With WoW and DAoC I used to play a lot by myself and would get really sucked into it. With Warhammer its not the game that seems to be so addictive for me as the social aspect of playing with other people who are sitting right next to you. Before I read my blitz it probably would not have crossed my mind to skip RJD2 to play Warhammer, but once I knew that people were sitting in there playing together it was so much more compelling. And it was definitely much more fun killing orcs with other people than sitting around in my starting area by myself and getting killed.
On a side note, both my computer and Brendan's were lagging like crazy last night which was frustrating, not least because it caused me to accidently run off a cliff and kill myself. Not sure if that was because of the computers or the server, but we should probably try to fix it because there is nothing more worse than lagging to remind you that you're playing a game.
